Burning Book: A Visual History of Burning Man by Jessica Bruder
Author reading
The Booksmith will host the first-ever author reading for 'Burning Book: A Visual History of Burning Man': a narrative non-fiction, photo-illustrated, sunburned and somewhat delirious account of the annual migration to Black Rock City by Portland journalist Jessica Bruder.
The book weaves together interviews with scores of Burning Man participants -- from desert virgins to Cacophony Society veterans; from La Contessa's sailors to the surly Gerlach propane man; from the Flaming Lotus Girls to Larry Harvey, and many more -- to tell the tale. It brims with images from more than 30 photographers and dozens of festival artifacts.
The reading promises laughter, bedlam, and slides, too! Or at least two out of three.
If you miss it, do not despair: Cody's Books will host a second reading on Monday, 8/6, at 7 p.m. (1730 Fourth St., Berkeley).
