From NYC One Night Only
“Cinema Soundscapes”
An Evening of Voice, Sound and Cinema

On Tuesday, November 20th at 8:30 PM Oddball Films presents “Cinema Soundscapes”, an evening of voice, sound and live cinema featuring New York contemporary musicians mezzo-soprano vocalist Silvie Jensen and woodwind musician Bodhan Hilash. Oddball Films Director Stephen Parr will project cinema shorts and film montages. Admission is $10.00. Limited Seating RSVP to info@oddballfilm.com
“Cinematic Soundscapes” is part of a continuing sound/cinema collaboration between Stephen Parr and Bohdan Hilash. Their first public collaboration premiered at Parr’s “Sonic Oddities” cinema program at the Anthology Film Archives in NYC in September of this year. In that program Bodhan and his avant garde group 4FiveVI (www.4fivevi.com) created sound overtures and integrated live music with “Sonic Oddities” cinema selections curated by Parr.
More than just cinema accompanied with live music the performance sought to sonically explore the hidden seams in cinematic odds and ends while creating new perceptual and auditory contexts in the sound/cinema experience.
“Cinematic Soundscapes” combines the talents and ongoing collaborative experimentation of two extraordinary performers Bodhan Hilash and Silvie Jensen with the curatorial cinematics of Oddball Films Director Stephen Parr.
The program is free wheeling and informal and will feature musical performances, rare cinema shorts including the French produced “A Dream of Wild Horses”, (1971) and “Symphonies in Stone” (1942) as well as collaborative sounds improvised to double screen projections and cinema montages created by Parr.
