Zoyres Eastern European Wild Ferment purveys a unique sound drawing from Eastern European folk music, free improvisation, noise, jazz, drum-n-base, and rock traditions.  Zoyres’ music is many things at once: complex and catchy, dynamic and dancy, down-home and dirty, alternately cerebral and simple, dark and delightful.  Zoyres is a five piece band featuring saxophone, clarinet, trombone, tuba, and drums and has worked in San Francisco since 2004.  And, yes it’s true, they bring their homemade sauerkraut (yummy!) and ginger beer. Seth Augustus sings and howls surreal tales accompanied by his mutated Delta blues guitar style.  His original compositions are folkloric fever dreams delivered in a throat-singing style that will take you back up the river looking for crawdads.
