Push Dance Company presents Bitter Melon at Union Square downtown San Francisco
Friday, 25 May, 2012
|Friday-Monday, May 25-28, 8pm
Steeped in the cultural histories of San Francisco's African American and Filipino communities, Raissa Simpson's Push Dance Company premieres Bitter Melon, May 25-28, 2012 in Union Square, downtown San Francisco. It features 3D video projection by Ben Wood and his collaborator David Mark onto the historic Dewey Monument. Performed by Push Dancers, the collaborative piece highlights interactions with vibrant video and sound. Uncovering the hidden realities of these parallel cultures, the new performance cracks open questions to the contradictions of life: national and cultural identity, natural disaster and war - the power of loss and redemption. Performances start at 8:00pm or at sundown. Friday-Monday, May 25-28, 8pm.
